Synopsis

Set during the Great Depression, Water for Elephants follows young Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student whose life shatters after a devastating loss. Desperate and directionless, he climbs onto a moving train, only to find it's the home of the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth - a ragtag circus teetering on the edge of. As Jacob looks after the animals, including the majestic elephant Rosie, he falls deeply in love with Marlena, the stunning star performer trapped in a volatile marriage to the tyrannical ringmaster, August. Told through memories from an elderly Jacob's perspective, the story highlights themes of hope, forbidden romance, and the wonder of the big top.
