The incredible set design helps transport people into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Once the curtains open, everyone is hit with an air of nostalgia that is unmatched by any of the other productions on tour or on Broadway. There's somewhat of an adjustment phase to get used to seeing other actors giving life to some of these beloved characters. J.K. Rowling herself talks about her experience when she first saw Harry Potter and The Cursed Child LIVE it was emotional for her to see Professor Snape, the character, with his back to the crowd and expecting to see the late Alan Rickman's face when he turned around. There could be those really emotional moments for you as well on this Sunday night if you're a huge fan of the movies.
Thankfully at one point, the story being told on stage and the way that the stage itself is set up it forces audiences to adapt their eyes a bit. When you get to the climax of the play, you're looking at "Harry Potter" as the character without expecting to see Daniel Radcliffe. Know ahead of time, that you'll experience a roller coaster of emotions with Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. This ride is much more memorable than anything that you can get on at Universal Studios. Maybe what makes this play so intriguing is that it sticks to the tone of the movies. It would've been a complete mistake to try and make this into a traditional musical to compete with something like The Lion King. Most audiences would've seen right through it. Harry Potter isn't on that level of corny, and therefore, a story within this world on stage shouldn't be either.
